In winter, Lake Baikal looks unreal: endless blue, crystal-clear ice with cracks and frozen bubbles beneath your feet. Early March is considered the best time to visit — the cold is less intense, and the lake looks especially impressive. There are slightly more visitors on Olkhon Island during this period, so it’s best to book accommodation in advance.
